BEGINNING LESSONS INDEX

 Lesson 1

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  greet in Burmese

            2.  use the polite tag at the end of the conversational sentences

            3.  use the pronouns as necessary

            4.  construct the basic sentence of "N+pa."

 

Lesson 2

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  request or command to do or not to do some basic activities

            2.  understand the posive and negative request  or command

            3.  construct the basic sentences of "V+pa" and "ma +V+pa+neh" along with thhe          Burmese words for "here" and "there"

 

Lesson 3

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  ask and answer the basic questions that can be answered with "yes" or "no"

            2.  identify some places in Burmese

            3.  construct the basic sentences of "N+la" and "N+ ma houq pa bu" along with                         the Burmese words for "this" and "that"

 

Lesson 4

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  use the proper prifix to the names of male and female adults

            2.  identify the people by numbers 1- 10

            3.  construct the structure of "N and N" with the Burmese word for "and"

 

 

 

Lesson 5

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  use the proper prifix to the names of young male and female

            2.  ask or answer the "yes" or "no" questions that includes the verbs

            3.  use the sentence ending "teh" for the present and past tense

            4.  constuct the structures of "V+ pa deh," "ma+V+pa bu," "V+dha la" and        "ma+V+bu+la"

            5.  use and understand the words introduced in this lesson

 

 

Lesson 6

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  identify the types of some food and drink

            2.  ask and answer the questions related to the names of cities and countries

            3.  ask and answer the basic questions that start with "what"

            4.  use the sentence ending 'meh" for future tense

 

Lesson 7

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  ask and answer the questions regarding the numbers of houses and telephones

            2.  make the basic questions with "how many" or "how much"

           

Lesson 8

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  be able to receive a phone call and ask who is speaking on the other side

            2.  make the basic questions with "who"

            3.  use the words for some family members

            4.  use the verb particles "phu" (to have an experience of) and "taq" (to know how         to)

 

Lesson 9

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  be able to give more information about a person on a phone

            2.  hang up the phone with a proper conclusion

            3.  identify the relationship of more family members

            4.  use the verb particles "nain" (can)

 

Lesson 10

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  greet in a different way asking about health

            2.  ask where someone is coming from, going to and living at

            3.  use the positional vocabularies like "in," "on," etc.

            4.  construct the questions with "beh mha" (where)

 

 

 

Lesson 11

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  ask and bargain the price while shopping

            2.  count Myanmar currency

            3.  use some numeral classifiers

            4.  construct the questions with "beh lauq" (how much)

 

Lesson 12

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  talk about the price and items with the shopkeeper

            2.  count the items using more numeral classifiers

            3.  construct the questions with "how much" in a different way using "beh nhiq"

           

 

Lesson 13

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  ask and answer the questions about when one has done and will do

            2.  use the Myanmar words for days of a week

            3.  use the words related to the past and future

            4.  read and write the questions with "beh doun ga" (when-past) and "beh daw"             (when-future)

 

Lesson 14

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  ask and answer the questions about time

            2.  use the Myanmar words for parts of a day

            3.  ask what time some one did or will do

            4.  read and write the questions with "beh hna na yi" or "beh achain" (what time)

 

Lesson 15

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  ask and answer the questions about a travel- location, distance, weather and             mean of the trip

            2.  ask and answer the questions about the language skills

            3.  use the Myanmar words for weather condition

            4.  read and write the questions with "beh lauq" (how)

 

 

Lesson 16

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  ask and answer the questions about a plan

            2.  answer the questions negatively using the grammatical items such as "ba mha"            (anything) "beh mha mha" (anywhere) etc.

           

 

 

Lesson 17

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  speak and understand the languge commonly used at a meal time

            2.  develop the adverbial phrases

            3.  use the adverbial phrases appropriately

 

 

Lesson 18

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to pluralize the      pronouns

 

Lesson 19

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  use the color words

            2.  use the adjectives

           

Lesson 20

Objective:  At the end of this lesson, learners are expected to be able to:

            1.  ask and give directions

            2.  use the words related to directions

            3.  construct the relative clauses

            4.  give answers using "ma houq pa bu" (no) at the end
