In this lesson, you will learn how to start a conversation, to reveal your country of origin and ask where someone is originally come from.

New Vocabularies

Apa kabar? - How are you
To respond this question, usually you will say:
Baik - Good
Baik-baik saja - I am okay
Biasa saja - So so
Kurang baik - Not too good
Terima kasih - Thank you
Bagaimana dengan Anda? - How about you?

Dialog 1

Andi : Selamat siang
Dina : Selamat siang
Andi : Apa kabar?
Dina : Baik- baik saja. Terima kasih. Bagaimana dengan Anda?
Andi : Baik. Terima kasih

Where are you from? Anda berasal dari mana? There are a couple of ways of asking where someone originally come from

Bapak/ Ibu/ Mas/ Mbak berasal dari mana? Saya berasal dari kota Solo
Bapak/ Ibu/ Mas/ Mbak orang mana? Saya orang Solo
Bapak/ Ibu/ Mas/ Mbak aslinya dari mana? Saya aslinya dari Solo
All of those statement were translated as Where are you originally from?

You can also use the country of origin as your answer. For example
Bapak berasal dari mana? Saya berasal dari Jerman
Ibu orang mana? Saya orang Singapura
Mas aslinya dari mana? Saya aslinya dari Thailand
Teman saya - my friend

Q : Di mana Anda tinggal? - Where do you live
A : Saya tinggal di jalan Merdeka ( I live on Merdeka st)
Q : Anda bekerja di mana? - Where do you work at?
A : Saya bekerja di toko (I work at a store)
