from TRAditional POlitician, one who is considered corrupt, selfish, and is only after his interest than the general welfare of the nation; TRAPO is the Tagalog term for dirty rag used to wipe off dirt and in cleaning dirty surfaces.

from the tropical fruit of the same name (with five or six sides, see image); as a political term, it is used as a label to a politician who regularly shifts alliances or parties in order to save his political career; synonymous to turncoatism
