* สวยงาม is composed of two parts, each of which has virtually the same meaning. Compounds of this type are very typical in Thai and the internal order of each compound is fixed; thus you must say สวยงาม and not งามสวย. ** น่าเกลียด also consists of two parts. น่า should not be used alone; it has no meaning by itself. The word must accompany a verb. For example, น่าเกลียด is made up of น่า and เกลียด. The latter means "to hate, to dislike, to despise." When เกลียด, which is a verb, follows น่า, it becomes an adjective. |
