The 'Phansa Candles' are huge and bulky, weighing hundreds of kilograms. They are elaborately decorated with moulded and carved designs. Every year prizes are awarded to the most exquisite candle, the most joyous parade and the most elegant candle 'Fairy'.  Candle Offering during the Buddhist Lent is a common practice of Buddhists. Candles are usually lit to worship Lord Buddha and illuminate monks' moral study at night.
