Vat Xieng Thong was the monastery of the "Gateway to the Town". It was at this upstream landing place that the king's officials made their arrivals and departures. Here dignitaries landed when traveling by river, or when arriving from Siam (Thailand) by the road that ended on the opposite bank at Ban Xieng Mene. | ||||||||||||
