* The colloquial system for telling time uses the unit mooŋ
("daylight hour") starting at 6 a.m.. Thus 8:00 a.m. is the second hour of
the early morning or sɔ̌ɔŋ
mooŋ.
Official time, time used on t.v. or radio, uses the unit
nalikaa and naathii ("hours
and minutes in a 24-hour system" and runs, like military time, from 1(1 a.m.)
to 24 (midnight).
To ask for the time in either system you can ask with the word
kii [low tone]
กี่ "how many" followed by mooŋ
or nalikaa
