Two men shot dead, police outposts raided

 Yala _ Two people were shot dead yesterday in Muang and Than To districts

as violence in the South continued unabated.

 

 The first victim was Saha Salae, 56, an informant for the government. Saha

was riding his motorcycle along Ban Bai-Kampong Bunae road in tambon Budi

when two men started following.

 

 The pillion rider opened fire at him. He was hit twice in the body and died

instantly.

 

 In Than To district, Sudin Sako, acting village chief of tambon Ban Rae in

Than To district, was found dead near the village. He had been shot in the

body.

 

 Sudin went missing two days ago before his body was found.

 

 In another incident, a backhoe of a construction company was set fire on

Wednesday night on a road in tambon Talingchan of Bannang Sata district. The

damage was estimated at 30,000 baht.

 

 In Narathiwat, four government outposts were fired at between 8.30pm-9pm on

Wednesday but there was no damage or casualties.

 

 The first attack took place at an outpost near Ban Bukit railway station

staffed by five police.

 

 In the second attack, attackers opened fire at an outpost of Rueso district

police.

 

 At Bango Humo village in tambon Kawa of Sungai Padi district, a military

outpost was also attacked with small arms and a clash ensued for about 20

minutes.

 

 In the fourth attack, a group of assaillants hiding on the roadside opened

fire at an armoured car on patrol near Ton Mai Sung village in tambon Paluru

of Sungai Padi district.
