Four men admit bomb attack
Four men have admitted bombing a roadside shelter
in Wang district on Nov 13, injuring soldiers and police, said a senior police
officer.
Makariming Roki, 28, Muhamad Mano, 27, Suhaiming Yaya, 28, and Sakkri Binjehha,
31, confessed during interrogation at Ingkayutthaboriharn camp in Pattani, said
assistant police chief Pol Lt-Gen Wongkot Maneerin.
The four men were charged with attempted murder of state officials, causing
injury to people and their property, and having explosive devices in their
possession.
Seven police and soldiers were injured when the bomb, detonated by mobile phone,
went off at a roadside shelter in tambon Lohjood.
Pol Lt-Gen Wongkot said the suspects fled on two motorcycles after the
explosion, changed clothes and moved on.
On their way they encountered a police unit led by Pol Lt-Col Pramot Pumprakhun,
deputy chief of Wang police station. Police found three mobile phones in the
men's possession.
The suspects were taken to the army camp for questioning. After confessing they
were handed over to the police.
According to police, the suspects were smugglers of contraband goods between
Thailand and Malaysia.
