Man killed, bomb defused
WAEDAO HARAI
Narathiwat _ A defence volunteer was shot dead in Rangae district
yesterday by a motorcycle gunman, while police defused a bomb planted in
front of a school in Tak Bai district.
Rohsapae-ing Muesoh, 39, was on his way to work when he was shot by a
pillion-riding gunman. He was hit in the chest with a .38-calibre bullet
and died instantly.
In Tak Bai district, a police bomb disposal team was sent to examine a
suspicious-looking package found near the gate of Ban Khokmueba
Mitraparp School. A crowd of students was gathering to watch when the
team arrived.
The package turned out to be a tupperware box containing a home-made
bomb weighing about six kilogrammes.
The bomb containing fertiliser and dynamite was defused in about 10
minutes.
Two men on a motorcycle were spotted outside the school about an hour
before the bomb was found, police said.
