Police officer shot dead, five hurt by bomb

 A police officer was shot dead in a border district of Songkhla and five

people, including two police officers, were injured in a mobile-phone

triggered bomb explosion in Yala yesterday.

 Pol Snr Sgt-Maj Veerayuth Masa-a, 46, of Chana police station in Songkhla,

was followed by two men on a motorcycle on Chana-Talingchan road, Chana

district, while riding his own motorcycle home at 7am yesterday. The pillion

rider opened fire at him and he was hit in the head. He died on the way to

hospital.
