Police believed the shooting was the work of Muslim insurgents.
In Yala, a home-made bomb exploded at a shop in Muang district, injuring
two police officers and three civilians.
The bomb, planted under a marble chair outside Chokdee coffee shop in Yala
municipality, exploded at 1.50pm yesterday. Five people were injured by
shrapnel. Among them were Pol Cpl Mawin Kado, 30, of Yala police station,
who was hit in the legs, Pol Cpl Abubakad Dalaeman, 33, of the same station,
suffered injuries to his right wrist and knee. Shop owner Ms Sunee
Pramotwimol, 36, Ms Sameeya Awaekaji 22, and Waewduding Daewa, 25, were
slightly hurt.
