Her Majesty visits village hard hit by militants
WASSANA NANUAM
Her Majesty the Queen yesterday visited a village in Sungai
Padi district of Narathiwat where a number of violent militant attacks have
taken place.
She was greeted at Wat Loypradit by villagers of Ban Todeng, where rubber
planter Sieng Pladkaew, 67, a Buddhist, was decapitated by militants on May 29.
Sieng's wife, Somsri, 72, was granted an audience with the Queen at the temple.
She said the Queen expressed concern about the safety of all people in the area
and asked them to attend a village defence volunteer training course.
