Two men wounded, dog killed
WAEDA-OH HARAI
Narathiwat _ Two men were badly wounded and their dog was
killed when gunmen shot at their motorcycle in Ban Sako, Narathiwat's Chanae
district yesterday.
Police said Chaiyan Bamrung, 38, and Kraikan Boonsawat, 35, both from Yala's
Bannang Sata district, made a living hunting animals in the woods near Ban Sako.
They were riding a motorcycle in the village when gunmen fired several rounds at
them with AK rifles and pistols.
Mr Chaiyan was hit in his arms, legs and abdomen and was in intensive care at
Narathiwat Ratchanakharin hospital in Narathiwat's Muang district. Mr Kraikan
was wounded in the arms and legs but was pronounced safe. The dog died at the
scene. Police said the pair might have been mistaken as informants.
In Yala's Than To district, police found a home-made timebomb set to explode at
1pm hidden in a tin left at a roadside shelter near a local post office. It was
defused.
