1. Besides the words sàw ເຊົ້າ,w sǔay ສົວຍ,w lέεŋ ແລງ,w there are three other words which further subdivide the day.  Since they do not correspond to hours on the clock, they overlap, the divisions between them are not exact.  The references to clock time given below are only approximations.

ສົວຍw	sǔay	midday--10.00 AM-2.00 PM
ທຽ່ງw	thīaŋ	noon--12.00
ບ່າຍw	bāay	afternoon--1.00 PM-5.00 PM
ແລງw	lέεŋ	evening--5.00 PM-12.00 PM
ກາງຄືນw	kaaŋ khýyn	nighttime--8.00 PM-4.00 PM
ທຽ່ງຄືນw	thīaŋ khýyn	midnight--12.00

2. tɔɔn ຕອນw is used with the above time words meaning 'while, during, at, in'.

ຕອນທຽ່ງw	tɔɔn thīaŋ	noontime
ຕອນແລງw	tɔɔn lέεŋ	in the evening
ຕອນເກົ້າໂມງເຊົ້າw	tɔɔn kàw móoŋ sǎw	at nine in the morning

3. The time words in grammar note 1 (but sǔay ສົວຍw only rarely) are also used to specify clock time.  Note that bāay ບ່າຍw precedes, while the others follow the number.

4. thȳa ເທື່ອw   means 'time, instance'.  sɔ̌ɔŋ thȳa ສອງເທື່ອwwwmeans 'twice'. 
5. cák ຈັກw has different meanings when it is used in different sentences. 
   1. cák ຈັກw has meaning used to mean 'how many'.

ເຈົ້າເຄັຍໄປຈັກເທື່ອw

càw khǝ́ǝy pay cák thȳa

How many times have you gone?

2. cák ຈັກw means 'even' in the following sentences. 

ຂ້ອຍບໍ່ເຄັຍໄປຈັກເທື່ອw	khɔ̂y bɔ̄ɔ khǝ́ǝy pay cák thȳa	I've never been there (even once).
ເຈົ້າເຄັຍໄປຈັກເທື່ອບໍw	càw khǝ́ǝy pay cák thȳa bɔɔ	Have you ever been there (even once.)

3. cák ຈັກ means 'only, just' in the expression îik cák nɔ̄ɔy ອີກຈັກໜ່ອຍw meaning 'just a little bit'.  When referring to time, îik cák nɔ̄ɔy ອີກຈັກໜ່ອຍmeans  'in a little while'.  îik ອີກ often drops out.
