1. âat ca ອາດຈະw 'might' is a auxiliary verb like khúan ca ຄົວນຈະ,w tɔ̀ɔŋ ຕ້ອງ,w and khǝ́ǝy ເຄີຍ.w Note the position of the negative particle.

ລາວອາດຈະບໍ່ໄປw	láaw âat ca bɔ̄ɔ pay He might not go.
ລາງເທື່ອລາວອາດຈະບໍ່ເຮັດw	láaŋ thȳa láaw âat ca bɔ̄ɔ hēt Perhaps he might not do it.

2. kamláŋ ກຳລັງw 'in the process of', 'about to' is a helping verb. 

ລາວກຳລັງສິໄປw

láaw kamláŋ si pay

He's about to go.

3. Note the use of phisêet ພິເສດw 'special, expecially' in the following sentences. 

ມື້ນີ້ເປັນມື້ພິເສດw	mỳy nìi pen mỳy phisêet	Today is a special day.
ເຮົາເຮັດພິເສດໃຫ້ລາວ w	háw hēt phisêet hây láaw	We did it separately (specially) for him.
ມື້ນີ້ລາວງາມເປັນພິເສດ	mỳy nìi láaw ŋáam pen phisêet	Today she is especially pretty.

4. sǎmlāp ສຳຫຼັບw 'for' should be distinguished from  hây ໃຫ້     w 'for'.  Note hây ໃຫ້ is preceded by a verb while sǎmlāp ສຳຫຼັບw is not. 

ລາວເຮັດໃຫ້ຂ້ອຍw	láaw hēt hây khɔ̂y He did it for me.
ລົດຄັນນີ້ພິເສດສຳຫຼັບທ່ານເຈົ້າແຂວງ	lōt khán nìi phisêet sǎmlāp thān càw khwε̌εŋ This car is especially for the governor.

5. sǝ́ǝn taam sabaay w may be translated in different ways.  To a guest it means 'make yourself at home'. It also means 'don't go to any trouble, don't get up', or 'go ahead with what you're doing'.

6. 'To want something' may be either jâak dày ຢາກໄດ້ w   or tɔ̀ɔŋkaan ຕ້ອງການ.w

ຂ້ອຍຢາກໄດ້ໂມງw	khɔ̂y jâak dày móoŋ	I want a watch.
ຂ້ອຍຕ້ອງການໂມງw	khɔ̂y tɔ̀ɔŋkaan dày móoŋ	I want a watch.

7. hây ໃຫ້ whas been used with the meaning 'to have someone do something.'

ຂ້ອຍໃຫ້ລາວເຮັດw

khɔ̂y hây láaw hēt

I  had him do it.

Note how hây ໃຫ້w has a similar meaning in the following sentences. 

ຮຽນໃຫ້ເກ່ງw	hían hây kēŋ	Study so you'll be smart.
ເຮັດໃຫ້ແຊັບw	hēt hây sὲεp	Make it taste delicious.
ບອກໃຫ້ຮູ້w	bɔ̂ɔk hây hùu	Tell them so they'll know.
