  1. "ju#u" (ຢູ່)  Click to Listen   may mean "to live" or "to be located".

    For example,

      ເຈົ້າຢູ່ໄສ Click to Listen

    cA$w ju#u sa1y

    Where do your live?
      ເຈົ້າເຣັດການຢູ່ໄສ Click to Listen

    cA$w he#t kaan ju#u sa1y

    Where do you work?

     

  2. In Lao, verbs do not have different forms for different tenses such as "is and was" in English.  Sometimes you will notice different tenses in English translations but with no corresponding change in Lao. 

           For example,

  ເກິດ Click to Listen

ke3et

to be born

  ຂ້ອຍເກິດຢູ່ປາກເຊ Click to Listen

khO3y ke3et ju#u pa3akse2e

I (was) born in Pakse.
