Sampai = up to/until

sampai (ka-)PLACE, sampai (ka-)TIME   =  verbs +prepositions

 1) The ka- seems to be omitted occasionally with place, omitted most times with the time phrase following. Sampai itself is prepositional in function, in sentences with another main verb.

          Travel up to Pattani/as far as Pattani.   From Pattani to Yala.

 Sampai as a "time" preposition

 *note there is no di- before time A*

          Work up to/ until five pm.              From morning until night.

From place/time A up to place/time B = di-place A sampai (ka-)place B

                                                     time A        sampai (ka-)time B

Preposition ‘from’ = di-place (typical P.M.) = same as “at place”.

                            dari-place (typical S.M.    and used by some P.M. speakers too)
