Here will look specifically at berapo questions and answers. Berapo = how many?

To ask how many of an object are present:

There are cows how many “tails”? (How many cows are there?)

There are students how many “people”? (How many students are there?)

There are pens how many “fruits”? (How many pens are there?)

-Group classifiers are used when you want to indicate a specific number of things.  You can also think of classifiers as “numeral coefficients” because they are only used with number words, not with adjectives and demonstratives. Notice there is no direct translation for classifiers.

To answer these questions, drop the question word and answer with a number.

There are cows three “tails”. (There are three cows.)

There are students twenty-six “people”. (There are twenty-six students.)

 There are pens eight “fruits”. (There are eight pens.)
