* Note:   The term orang Cina (pronounced "cheena") is also used to refer to Indonesians of Chinese descent but it is considered insulting by many, sort of like "Chink" in English -- though there doesn't seem to be complete agreement on this and the term is still widely used.  A more formal term is orang Tionghua which uses an Indonesian/Malay version of the Chinese word for "China".   One also sometimes sees WNI, "Warga Negara Indonesia", literally "Indonesian citizen" applied to Chinese (it sort of implies the broadest understanding of their "region"  -- as opposed to orang Jawa, orang Bali, etc.). For an article (in Bahasa Indonesia) about Cina vs. Tionghua see https://www.indonesiamedia.com/lipsus/lipsus-2003-cinationghoa1.htm
