Vat (temple) Phonexay Sanasongkham, "Monastery of the Hill of Victories (coll. Bounthieng) |

Built by King Anourout in 1791, the monastery was named for the large Buddha statue which kings and dignitaries prayed prior to their departure for warfare. The present vat, entirely rebuilt in reinforced concrete in 1970. In the simple style featuring hall and porch, it has a double bay and lateral verandahs added. The roof is constructed wit ha change of gradient, Luang Prabang style. |
