The giant women	ฝ่ายนางอสุรีสาวสวรรค์
were annoyed with beautiful Sita.	ขัดแค้นสีดาวิลาวัณย์
So they invited themselves into the pavilion.	ก็ชวนกันเข้าไปในพลับพลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  ชุบ
191. They sat down opposite the woman.	๑๙๑. นั่งลงตรงพักตร์บังอร
They looked at her out of the corner of their eyes and said,	ควักค้อนแล้วรํ่ารําพันว่า
"Why is it, Lady Sita,	เป็นไฉนฉะนี้นางสีดา
The Lord Giant loves you as his heart.	พระยายักษ์รักเจ้าดั่งดวงใจ
Why can't you give in?	ควรฤาช่างไม่ผ่อนผัน
How can you curse him?	รําพันด่าเล่นก็เป็นได้
You will have us killed.	จะให้เรานี้พลอยบรรลัย
Will you be satisfied then, Lady?	ดีแล้วฤาไรนางเทวี
Next time, if you don't go along with him and everything he says,	ทีหลังแม้นไม่ปลงจิต
If you aren't close to the giant,	แสนสนิทด้วยท้าวยักษี
He will tear apart your flesh, and slice the hide all over your body,	จะฉีกเนื้อเถือหนังทั้งอินทรีย์
And it will serve you right."	ให้สาที่นํ้าใจกัลยา  ฯ

192. Then	๑๙๒. เมื่อนั้น
Lovely Lady Sita	สีดาเยาวยอดเสน่หา
Was angry at Totsakan the Giant.	คิดแค้นทศกัณฐ์อสุรา
And she was hurt from the words of the ladies-in-waiting.	ทั้งเจ็บวาจากํานัล
It was the end of her endurance and pain and thoughts.	สุดทนสุดทุกข์สุดคิด
She was so hurt she couldn't suppress it any longer.	ชํ้าจิตสุดที่จะอดกลั้น
She sighed and cried.	สะท้อนถอนใจจาบัลย์
She moaned for the Discus-bearer.	รําพันถึงองค์พระจักรี
"Why hadn't he come after her?	ไฉนพระไม่ติดตามมา
And killed the evil giants!	ล้างเหล่าพาลายักษี
To let him speak so crudely	ให้มันหยาบช้าพาที
And scold his wife here in every way!	ว่ากล่าวเมียนี้ทุกสิ่งไป
I'm at my wit's end and I don't want to live	สุดคิดที่จะครองชีวาตม์
To wait for him.	ไว้ท่าเบื้องบาทพระองค์ได้
The longer I live the more grief I feel.	อยู่ช้ายิ่งชํ้าระกําใจ
I will kill myself and go to wait in heaven."	จะบรรลัยไปคอยยังเมืองฟ้า
While thinking this she acted as if she were going to bed.	คิดพลางทางทําเป็นเข้าที่
When she saw the giantesses who surrounded her left and right	ครั้นเห็นนางอสุรีซ้ายขวา
They were all asleep and unconscious.	หลับไหลไม่ฟื้นกายา
She descended from the pavilion and went off.	ก็ลงจากพลับพลาเสด็จจร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๑๐  คํา  ฯ
193. When she came to a big sok tree	๑๙๓. ครั้นมาถึงต้นโศกใหญ่
Near a fragrant lotus pond	ใกล้สระปทุมเกสร
Out of sight of the group of giantesses	พ้นฝูงอสุรีนิกร
She fell to the ground and cried.	บังอรทรุดองค์ลงโศกี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  โอด
194. She lamented, "O King,	๑๙๔. โอ้ว่าสมเด็จพระลูกเจ้า
Your goodness protects my head.	พระคุณปกเกล้าเกศี
Your wife is about to die.	เมียจะสุดสิ้นชีวี
You will not see me die.	ภูมีไม่ได้เห็นใจ
Alas! I tried to protect myself and wait for you.	เสียทีครองตัวไว้ท่า
I didn't have a chance to say goodbye to you.	จะได้บังคมลาก็หาไม่
From now on, I'll be gone.	ตั้งแต่วันนี้จะลับไป
I won't be with you again, at your feet."	มิได้ฉลองบทมาลย์
Saying this she lifted her hands to the top of her head.	รํ่าพลางยอกรขึ้นเหนือเกศ
She paid obeisance to the gods everywhere.	ไหว้ฝูงเทเวศทุกสถาน
She bowed down to the earth.	กราบลงกับพื้นสุธาธาร
She moaned with longing.	นงคราญรํ่าว่าด้วยอาวรณ์
"Please protect the King	ขอฝากสมเด็จพระหริวงศ์
And Laksmana, who carries the arrows.	กับองค์พระลักษณ์ทรงศร
Let no trouble or sorrow befall them.	อย่ามีทุกข์โศกโรคร้อน
If the Lord with Four Hands follows me here,	แม้นพระสี่กรตามมา
Please tell him I've been hurt	ช่วยทูลว่าข้านี้เจ็บชํ้า
By the words of the evil giant.	ด้วยคําพวกพาลยักษา
Now I shall pay my obeisance and take my leave	บัดนี้ถวายบังคมลา
To go to heaven."	ไปยังฟากฟ้าดุษฎี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๑๐  คํา  ฯ  โอด
195. When she finished entrusting herself to the gods	๑๙๕. ครั้นเสด็จฝากฝูงเทเวศ
This glorious woman	เยาวเรศผู้มิ่งมารศรี
Pulled down a branch of the sok tree to hang herself.	น้าวกิ่งโศกห้อยอินทรีย์
She lifted herself up.	เทวีก็หน่วงขึ้นไป  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  เพลง
196. She took her garment and tied her neck firmly.	๑๙๖. เอาภูษาผูกศอให้มั่น
Then she bound it around the branch of the big sok tree.	แล้วพันกับกิ่งโศกใหญ่
She closed her eyes and made her decision.	หลับเนตรดํารงปลงใจ
Then the woman jumped down.	อรไทก็โจนลงมา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  เชิดฉิ่ง
197. Then	๑๙๗. บัดนั้น
The Son of the Wind, the Brave One,	วายุบุตรวุฒิไกรใจกล้า
When he saw the woman	ครั้นเห็นองค์อัครกัลยา
Tie her neck and jump down, he was shocked.	ผูกศอโจนมาก็ตกใจ
His body trembled as if he would die.	ตัวสั่นเพียงสิ้นชีวิต
His heart was trobled. It was on fire.	ร้อนจิตดั่งหนึ่งเพลิงไหม้
He jumped down,	โลดโผนโจนตรงลงไป
Immediately, with agility.	ด้วยกําลังว่องไวทันที  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  เชิด
198. When he reached her, he untied the royal garment	๑๙๘. ครั้นถึงจึ่งแก้ภูษาทรง
that bound her neck.	ที่ผูกศอองค์พระลักษมี
He lowered her to the earth.	หย่อนลงยังพื้นปัถพี
The Lord of the Monkeys jumped down.	ขุนกระบี่ก็โจนลงมา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ
199. He saw that she wasn't dead.	๑๙๙. เห็นนางไม่สิ้นชีวาลัย
He was elated.	มีใจแสนโสมนัสา
He ran to her and paid obeisance at her feet.	วิ่งเข้ากราบลงกับบาทา
He prostrated himself in front of the lady.	หมอบอยู่ตรงหน้าบังอร  ฯ

200. Then	๒๐๐. เมื่อนั้น
Lovely Sita, Circle of Love,	นวลนางสีดาดวงสมร
Saw the monkey come and pay obeisance to her.	เห็นกระบี่มาถวายชุลีกร
The maiden's anger was like the Cataclysmic Fire.	บังอรกริ้วโกรธดั่งเพลิงกาล
So, she said,	จึ่งมีเสาวนีย์ตรัสไป
"O, you beastly forest monkey!	เหวยอ้ายลิงไพรเดียรฉาน
Why did you do this evil thing?	เหตุใดมึงทําสาธารณ์
I am suffering.	กูผู้ทรมานเวทนา
Totsapak kidnapped me and fled	ทศพักตรมันลักเราหนี
From the Discus-bearer, the Refuge.	จากพระจักรีนาถา
It grieves me.	เจ็บชํ้าระกําอุรา
I drink only tears every single day.	กินแต่นํ้าตาไม่วายวัน
At the end of my endurance, I hanged myself to die.	สุดทนจึ่งผูกคอตาย
O, Monkey, full of evil and illusion,	อ้ายลิงแสนร้ายโมหันธ์
Why did you come and interfere	เป็นไฉนจึ่งมาก้างกัน
So that I did not die?"	มิให้ม้วยชีวันด้วยอันใด  ฯ
	ฯ  ๘  คํา  ฯ
201. Then	๒๐๑. บัดนั้น
The Son of the Wind, the Courteous,	ลูกพระพายผู้มีอัชฌาสัย
Bowed down and said,	บังคมก้มเกล้าแล้วทูลไป
"Your Majesty, please have mercy.	พระองค์จงได้เมตตา
My name is Hanuman.	ตัวข้านี้ชื่อหนุมาน
I am a soldier of Naray the Refuge.	เป็นทหารพระนารายณ์นาถา
Now the King has come	บัดนี้ผ่านเกล้าเสด็จมา
With an army of monkeys.	ประชุมโยธาวานร
To the base of Kantamat Mountain	อยู่ยังเชิงเขาคันธมาทน์
With his younger brother.	กับพระนุชนาถทรงศร
When he wills it, he will raise his troops	เสร็จแล้วจะยกพลากร
And come after the giants and fight them.	ตามมารานรอนอสุรี
He told me to come and tell you this,	ตรัสใช้ข้าบาทมาทูลสาร
So that you will know.	แจ้งการให้ทราบบทศรี
Laksmana and the Discus-bearer	อันองค์พระลักษณ์พระจักรี
Are sad all the time."	แสนโศกโศกีทุกเวลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๘  คํา  ฯ
202. Then	๒๐๒. บัดนั้น
Lovely Lady Sita	นวลนางสีดาเสน่หา
Understood when he uttered the name of the Discus-bearer.	แจ้งความออกนามพระจักรา
It was like nectar healing her heart.	ดั่งอมฤตฟ้ายาใจ
It made her feel affection and longing.	ให้คิดเสน่หาอาวรณ์
She couldn't control her sorrow.	บังอรไม่กลั้นโศกได้
Tears of love filled her eyes.	ชลเนตรคลอเนตรด้วยอาลัย
She sighed and said,	ถอนใจแล้วมีเสาวนีย์
"You say you are a soldier	ตัวท่านว่าเป็นทหาร
Of the glorious Avatar Naray.	พระนารายณ์อวตารเรืองศรี
Then why is it that I	เป็นไฉนจึ่งตัวเรานี้
Didn't recognize you, O monkey?"	มิได้รู้จักวานร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ
203. Then	๒๐๓. บัดนั้น
Hanuman, strong and skillful,	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
Listened to the First Queen.	ได้ฟังอัครราชบังอร
He made a gesture of obeisance, then answered her.	ประนมกรแล้วทูลสนองไป
"When you were living with the Conch-bearer	เมื่อพระองค์อยู่ด้วยพระทรงสังข์
I had not yet come to be his servant."	ข้ายังหามาเป็นข้าไม่
While saying this, he gave her the ring and the breast cloth	ทูลพลางถวายแหวนกับสไบ
"These things the King gave me.	ของนี้ภูวไนยให้มา
He told me that it was the ring of the Queen	สั่งว่าธํามรงค์พระเทวี
Which the giant took off and threw at the bird	อสุรีถอดขว้างปักษา
Sadayu, when he was near death.	สดายุเมื่อใกล้มรณา
He gave it to the great Discus-bearer.	ถวายพระจักราฤทธิรอน
This breast cloth	อันพระภูษาสไบทรง
Belongs to the Queen.	ขององค์อัคเรศสายสมร
These things he entrusted to the monkey.	ซึ่งฝากไว้กับวานร
He gave them to me for you to recognize."	ภูธรให้เป็นสําคัญมา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๘  คํา  ฯ
204. Then	๒๐๔. เมื่อนั้น
Beautiful Lady Sita	โฉมนางสีดาเสน่หา
Saw the Jewelled ring	เห็นพระธํามรงค์อลงการ์
And her breast cloth	กับผ้าสไบของเทวี
It was as if she had seen the King himself.	ดั่งได้พบองค์พระทรงฤทธิ์
Then she began to be suspicious of the monkey.	แล้วคิดสงสัยกระบี่ศรี
So, she said, very sweetly,	จึ่งมีมธุรสวาที
"These things were dropped in the midle of the forest.	ของนี้สิตกอยู่กลางไพร
You are one of the devil's men.	ตัวท่านเป็นพวกกุมภัณฑ์
You were out walking in the forest and found them.	เที่ยวไปอารัญเก็บได้
The mean Totsasian	อ้ายทศเศียรจัญไร
Had you act falsely and bring these things to me.	แกล้งใช้ให้เอ็งนํามา
You tricked me into not dying	ทํากลลวงกูมิให้ตาย
With  tricks and lies.	ด้วยแยบคายถ้อยคํามารษา
I don't believe you.	ตัวเราไม่เชื่อวาจา
You belong to the wicked group."	พวกอ้ายพาลาสาธารณ์  ฯ
	ฯ  ๘  คํา  ฯ
205. Then	๒๐๕. บัดนั้น
The Son of the Wind, Man of Wisdom,	วายุบุตรผู้ปรีชาหาญ
Heard the lady's words.	ฟังพระเสาวนีย์นงคราญ
He prostrated himself at her feet and then he said,	กราบกับบทมาลย์แล้วทูลไป
"Mother of the World, don't be suspicious of me.	พระมารดาโลกอย่ากินแหนง
I was not sent to deceive you.	จะแต่งมาล่อลวงนั้นหาไม่
His Majesty gave me these secret signals	พระองค์สั่งข้าเป็นความใน
To end your suspicions.	ให้สิ้นสงสัยของเทวี
He said your royal father	ว่าสมเด็จพระบิตุรงค์
Arranged your wedding ceremony.	ตั้งมงคลการภิเษกศรี
He lifted the great bow	ยกมหาธนูโมลี
In Mitila City.	ที่ในบุรีมิถิลา
You hid in a window.	พระแม่เจ้าแอบอยู่ยังบัญชร
When the Four-handed King	พอพระสี่กรนาถา
Entered	เสด็จดําเนินเข้ามา
Your eyes met and stared at each other.	นัยน์ตาต่อเนตรเล็งกัน
Each one felt attachment	ต่างองค์ต่างเกิดปฎิพัทธ์
And desire. You were very happy.	กําหนัดในรสเกษมสันต์
This secret is a sign.	ความลับเป็นที่สําคัญ
Only you know about it."	รู้กันแต่องค์พระเทวี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๘  คํา  ฯ
206. Then	๒๐๖. เมื่อนั้น
Lady Sita	นวลนางสีดามารศรี
Listened to Hanuman's words.	ได้ฟังหนุมานพาที
She stopped being suspicious.	สิ้นที่กินแหนงแคลงใจ
So she took the ring and cloth.	จึ่งรับภูษาธํามรงค์
She laced them on her head and cried.	ทูนเศียรแล้วทรงกันแสงไห้
Tears slowly flooded her eyes.	ชลเนตรนองเนตรรํ๋าไร
She signed and sobbed out of longing.	ถอนใจสะอื้นอาวรณ์  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ
207. "O PowerfulKing,	๒๐๗. โอ้ว่าพระองค์ทรงฤทธิ์
Your wife thought she was going to take  her leave and die.	เมียคิดว่าจะลาตายก่อน
You still worry about me	ยังอาลัยในข้าบังอร
And went to the trouble of coming after me.	อุตส่าห์บทจรตามมา
You didn't think of the difficulty involved.	ไม่คิดแก่ยากลําบากองค์
You made your way through the dense forest	บุกชัฎลัดดงพงป่า
With a lot of suffering and sorrow	แสนทุกข์แสนเพทเวทนา
Along with your beautiful younger brother.	กับพระอนุชาวิลาวัณย์
All this is because you love your wife.	ทั้งนี้เป็นเหตุเพราะรักเมีย
That's why you were deluded by the giant.	จึ่งเสียรู้อสุรโมหันธ์
Or else, how could Totsakan	หาไม่ที่ไหนทศกัณฐ์
Have stolen me and taken me here?	มันจักได้ลักน้องมา
It made Your Majesty unhappy in his love	ให้พระองค์โศกาอาวรณ์
To suffer and be sad and grieve."	ทุกข์ร้อนเศร้าโทมนัสสา
While saying this, the woman pounded her breast	รํ่าพลางนางข้อนอุรา
As if she would lose conciousness.	ดั่งว่าจะสิ้นสมประดี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๘  คํา  ฯ  โอด
208.  Then	๒๐๘. บัดนั้น
Hanuman the Victorious	หนุมานผู้ชาญชัยศรี
Saw the chief Queen.	เห็นองค์อัครราชเทวี
She was sad and moaning.	โศกีครวญครํ่ารําพัน
He said, "Your Majesty, please don't be unhappy,	ทูลว่าปิ่นเกล้าอย่าทุกข์ร้อน
Yearning, and at a loss with sorrow.	อาวรณ์วิโยคโศกศัลย์
The fact that Totsakan	อันเหตุซึ่งอ้ายทศกัณฐ์
Kidnapped you and brought you here,	มันไปลอบลักพระองค์มา
As punishment for his deeds, he will die.	ผลกรรมนําที่จะถึงตาย
It will be the end of the race of giants.	วอดวายสิ้นโคตรยักษา
It will be the end of his royal race in Lanka	สาบสูญสุริย์วงศ์ในลงกา
By the holy arrows of the Four-handed One.	ด้วยศรศักดาพระสี่กร
Because you are unhappy	ซึ่งได้อาดูรพูนเทวษ
I would like to invite you	ขอเชิญอัคเรศดวงสมร
To come sit on my hand.	ขึ้นนั่งยังมือวานร
I will carry you	จะพาบังอรจรจรัล
And give you back to King Naray	ไปถวายสมเด็จพระนารายณ์
So that the sorrow will end.	ให้หายทุกข์ร้อนโศกศัลย์
If the giant follows us,	มาตรแม้นยักษามาตามทัน
I'll kill him."	จะฆ่ามันให้ม้วยชีวี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๑๐  คํา  ฯ
209. Then	๒๐๙. เมื่อนั้น
Lovely Lady Sita	โฉมนางสีดามารศรี
Heard the words of the Son of the Wind.	ฟังลูกพระพายพาที
So she replied,	จึ่งมีเสาวนีย์ตอบไป
"Look, brave Hanuman,	ดูก่อนคําแหงหนุมาน
Your words aren't right.	อันคําของท่านหาชอบไม่
Why do you think things are so easy?	ไฉนจึ่งคิดเบาใจ
You didn't think with wisdom.	มิได้ตริตรองด้วยปรีชา
Totsapak kidnapped me and fled.	ทศพักตรมันลักเราหนี
This fact is a source of suspicion.	ข้อนี้ก็ที่กังขา
In addition, you came	มิหนําซํ้าตัวท่านมา
To take me from the city of the devil.	พาเราไปจากเมืองมาร
It would add to my guilt.	ยิ่งจะเป็นที่ราคิน
My guilt would spread in all directions.	ทั่วสิ้นในทศทิศานต์
Even the Avatar King	ถึงองค์สมเด็จพระอวตาร
Would hear and be suspicious.	ผ่านฟ้าจะแหนงแคลงใจ
As for what you suggest, in all rightness,	ซึ่งท่านว่านี้ก็โดยธรรม์
I can't go with you.	เราจะไปด้วยนั้นไม่ได้
So, monkey, hurry  back,	ขุนกระบี่จงเร่งกลับไป
And tell His Majesty to hurry here	ทูลพระภูวไนยให้รีบมา
And kill Totsapak	สังหารผลาญอ้ายทศพักตร์
And end his royal race.	ให้สิ้นศักดิ์สุริย์วงศ์พงศา
Then I will leave Lanka	เราจึ่งจะจากลงกา
And attend court at the feet of the Four-handed One."	ไปเฝ้าบาทาพระสี่กร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๑๒  คํา  ฯ
210. Then	๒๑๐. บัดนั้น
Strong Hanuman the Victorious	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
Listened to the Queen.	ได้ฟังอัครราชบังอร
And the monkey thought,	วานรดําริตริไป
"The woman is Laksmi herself.	นางนี้คือองค์พระลักษมี
Throughout the Three Worlds there is no comparison,	สามภพธาตรีไม่หาได้
Together with her wisdom	พร้อมทั้งปรีชาปัญญาไว
And knowledge of the past and present.	รู้ในอดีตปัจจุบัน
She's loyal to her husband.	ซื่อตรงต่อองค์พระภัสดา
She would rather lay down her life.	สู้เสียชีวาอาสัญ
She's fit to be the mother of the gods,	ควรเป็นมารดาเทวัญ
Of the entire heaven."	ทั่วสวรรค์ชั้นฟ้าธาตรี
Thinking this, he raised his hands above his head,	คิดแล้วยอกรเหนือเกศ
And said to the Queen,	ทูลอัคเรศมเหสี
"As for your words,	อันคําพระองค์พาที
I didn't think of the results.	ข้านี้ไม่คิดถึงการ
Please suppress your sorrow.	จงระงับดับใจไว้ก่อน
Don't kill yourself yet.	อย่าข้อนรอนชีพสังขาร
If you were to die,	แม้นพระแม่เดียวบรรลัยลาญ
The avatar and Laksmana, the younger brother,	พระอวตารพระลักษณ์อนุชา
There would be three persons who would  die.	จะพากันมอดม้วยเป็นสาม
And how would there be a war with the giants?	ไหนจะได้สงครามยักษา
It would be all in vain for the army.	ป่วยการพวกพลโยธา
So save yourself, and wait for the King.	จงครององค์ไว้ท่าภูมี
I beg to take leave of you,	ตัวข้าขอลาพระเยาวเรศ
To go explain this matter to Naray."	ไปแจ้งเหตุพระนารายณ์เรืองศรี
having said this, he made a gesture of obeisance.	ทูลแล้วนบนิ้วอัญชุลี
The the monkey walked away.	ขุนกระบี่ก็เดินออกไป  ฯ

When the Son of the Wind	ครั้นวายุบุตรวุฒิไกร

Slowly her distress diminished.	ค่อยระงับอาดูรพูนเทวษ
The Queen looked left and right.	อัคเรศเหลือบแลซ้ายขวา
She didn't see anyone coming or going.	ไม่เห็นผู้ใดไปมา
She hurried up into the pavilion.	ก็รีบขึ้นพลับพลาทันที  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  เพลง
212. She leaned on a cushion.	๒๑๒. เอนองค์ลงเหนือบรรจถรณ์
She raised her hands in a gesture of obeisance.	ยอกรประณตบทศรี
She thought of the goodness of the Discus-bearer.	คิดคุณสมเด็จพระจักรี
And the Queen fell asleep.	เทวีก็เคลิ้มหลับไป  ฯ
