About Pakan the Giant,	ถึงปักหลั่นยักษี
Touched by the curse of Indra, the Thousand-Eyed One.	ต้องสาปหัสนัยน์ธิบดี
The giant had guarded the pond for a long time.	อสุรีเฝ้าสระมาช้านาน
Whenever animals came there	ต่อสัตว์เข้ามาในที่นั้น
The demon grabbed them and ate them.	กุมภัณฑ์จับกินเป็นอาหาร
In the middle of the night	ครั้นถึงมัชฌิมราตรีกาล
The devil rose up from the water.	ขุนมารขึ้นจากชลาลัย  ฯ
	ฯ   ๔  คำ  ฯ    พิราบร้อน
13.     He went out along the edge of the pond.	๑๓. เที่ยวตามบริเวณสระศรี
He encountered the monkey forces, large and small.	พบพลกระบี่น้อยใหญ่
They were asleep, leaning on each other, scattered here and there.	นอนดาษพาดกันเกลื่อนไป
They slept and were not conscious.	หลับไหลไม่ฟื้นกายา
	มีใจชื่นชมโสมนัส
He clapped his hands, laughed, and said,	ตบหัตถ์สำรวลสรวลร่า
"Today I am very lucky that these creatures have come to me.	วันนี้ลาภใหญ่ของกูมา
I'm going to eat until I'm satisfied."	จะกินเป็นภักษาให้สำราญ
Having thought this, he swung his mace.	คิดแล้วกวัดแกว่งคทาวุธ
He showed his terrible magical powers and bravery.	สำแดงฤทธิรุทรกำลังหาญ
He walked stealthily, with an evil heart	ค่อยย่องเข้าไปด้วยใจพาล
To the midst of the troops.	ยังสถานท่ามกลางโยธี   ฯ
	ฯ   ๖  คำ  ฯ  เชิด
14.     Then he saw the three monkeys	๑๔. จึ่งเห็นวานรสามตน
In the middle of the glorious monkey troops.	อยู่ในกลางพลกระบี่ศรี
One of them was a funny green color all over his body.	ผู้หนึ่งเขียวขำทั้งอินทรีย์
"Perhaps this one is the leader.	ชะรอยอ้ายนี่เป็นนายมา
I'll kill him.	กูจะสังหารผลาญมัน
I'll snuff out his life."	ให้สิ้นชีวันสังขาร์
Having thought this, he pounced and gave a kick in the chest	คิดแล้วโจนถีบอุรา
To Onkot, grandson of Indra.	องคตนัดดามัฆวาน   ฯ
	ฯ  ๔ คำ  ฯ  เชิด
15.     Then	๑๕. บัดนั้น
the Son of Pali, the brave hearted one,	ลูกพระยาพาลีใจหาญ
Woke up, startled, from his heavenly dreams.	ผวาตื่นฟื้นจากสุธาธาร
Then he saw the bold hearted devil.	ก็เห็นขุนมารบังอาจใจ
He was as angry as fire.	กริ้วโกรธพิโรธดั่งไฟฟอน
He showed his magical powers and the earth trembled.	สำแดงฤทธิรอนแผ่นดินไหว
Quickly he seized his sword	ฉวยชักพระขรรค์ด้วยว่องไว
And began to chase, and to pound, and to kill the demon.	เข้าไล่เข่นฆ่าอสุรี   ฯ

16.  Then	๑๖. บัดนั้น
Paklan, the successful, high ranking demon,	ปั่กหลั่นสิทธิศักดิ์ยักษี
Swooped and pounced, swinging his arms, piercing and beating	ถาโถมโจมจ้วงทะลวงตี
With the power of his devil's body.	ด้วยกําลังอินทรีย์กุมภัณฑ์
Each one retreated and chased after each other in confusion.	ต่างถอยต่างไล่สับสน
Each one had magical strength.	ต่างตนฤทธิแรงแข็งขัน
The two fought bravely.	สองหาญต่อกล้า เข้าโรมรัน
Each struck and slashed, their hands not stopping.	ต่างตีต่างฟันไม่งดกร  ฯ

17. Then	๑๗. บัดนั้น
The grandson of the god Indra	หลานท้าวมัฆวานชาญสมร
Swung his sword with his magical powers.	กวัดแกว่งพระขรรค์ฤทธิรอน
The monkey stepped on the demon's knees.	วานรเหยียบเข่าอสุรี
They swayed back and forth and grabbed each other in confusion.	กลอกกลับจับกันสับสน
Each endured and did not retreat.	ต่างอดต่างทนไม่ถอยหนี
He kicked Paklan many times.	ถีบถูกปั่นหลั่นหลายที
Paklan staggered because of his might.	ยักษีซวนไปด้วยฤทธา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  เชิด
18. Then	๑๘. บัดนั้น
Paklan the giant	จึ่งปักหลั่นยักษา
Was bereft of thought	สิ้นคิดสิ้นกําลังกายา
And bereft of bodily strength	สิ้นศักดาเดชจะรอนราน
Fear made his body shake, and his sprite fled	ความกลัวตัวสั่นขวัญหนี
As if he were going to die	ดังจะม้วยชีวีสังขาร
He raised his hands in salutation and then spoke.	ประนมกรแล้วกล่าวพจมาน
"What is your name?	ท่านนี้มีนามชื่อไร
You have led your troops into my territory	พาพลล่วงเข้ามาในแดน
At the big pond.	แว่นแคว้นของเราที่สระใหญ่
Where are you going?"	จะไปแห่งหนตําบลใด
He was curious beyond calculation.	สงสัยเป็นพ้นคณนา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ
19. Then	๑๙. บัดนั้น
The Son of Pali the Brave	ลูกพระยาพาลีแกล้วกล้า
Listened and answered the demon.	ได้ฟังจึ่งตอบอสุรา
"My name is Onkot.	กูนี้ชื่อว่าองคต
I am a soldier of the Discus-bearer	เป็นทหารสมเด็จพระจักกฤษณ์
Who has power like the divine discus.	ทรงกําลังฤทธิ์ดั่งจักรกรด
Now, His Excellency	บัดนี้พระองค์ทรงยศ
Has raised ten troops of monkeys	ยกทศโยธาวานร
To go subdue the devils,	จะไปปราบอสูรหมู่มาร
To end this group of evil beings with arrows.	ให้สิ้นพวกพาลด้วยแสงศร
He had us three powerful officers	ให้กูสามนายฤทธิรอน
Go to the City of Lanka.	ไปยังนครลงกา
Night fell, so we stopped and rested.	คํ่าลงก็หยุดอาศัย
We didn't know this was giants' territory.	ไม่รู้ว่าแดนยักษา
What's your name, devil?	ตัวมึงชื่อไรอสุรา
Out of arrogance you sneak up and attack."	อหังการ์มาลอบราวี  ฯ

20. Then	๒๐. บัดนั้น
Paklan the Giant	จึ่งปักหลั่นยักษี
Knew that they were soldiers of the Discuss-bearer.	แจ้งว่าทหารพระจักรี
He was happy, so he said to the monkeys,	ยินดีก็บอกแก่วานร
"Formerly, I was a subject of	เดิมเราเป็นข้าเบื้องบาท
The Lord of the Mountain.	พระจอมภูวนาถสิงขร
I was the lover of a woman	ทําชู้สู่สมด้วยบังอร
Named Keson Mala.	มีนามเกสรมาลา
He became angry with me	พระองค์นั้นทรงพระโกรธ
And he punished me with a curse that made me a giant.	ลงโทษสาปข้าเป็นยักษา
I had to come guard Indra's lake.	ให้มาเฝ้าสระพันตา
I am called Paklan the Giant.	ชื่อว่าปักหลั่นขุนยักษ์
Whenever I should meet a soldier	เมื่อใดต่อพบทหาร
Of the Avatar, the Discus-bearer,	องค์พระอวตารทรงจักร
And he should stroke my body	ได้ลูบกายข้าผู้ทรลักษณ์
Then I will be rid of the heavy punishment that has been my curse.	จึ่งจะพ้นโทษหนักซึ่งสาปไว้
Today my unhappiness is ended.	วันนี้สิ้นทุกข์เวทนา
I find joy beyond comparison.	ปรีดาหาที่จะเปรียบไม่
About the trouble I caused you,	ซึ่งข้ามาทําให้เคืองใจ
Please forgive me.	ขออภัยจงได้ปรานี  ฯ

21. Then	๒๑. บััดนั้น
Onkot, the grandson of Indra,	องคตหลานท้าวโกสีย์
Knew the story of the demon.	แจ้งความตามเรื่องอสุรี
The monkey was filled with pity.	ขุนกระบี่มีจิตเมตตา
So he reached out his hands and stroked the demon's back.	จึ่งยื่นกรไปลูบปฤษฎางค์
This dispelled the punishment of the giant.	ก็สระสางซึ่งโทษยักษา
His body became that of a god again.	กายนั้นกลับเป็นเทวา
He flew off to heaven.	เหาะไปฟากฟ้าสถาวร  ฯ      Click here for picture

22. Then	๒๒. บัดนั้น
Hanuman, strong and capable,	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
With mighty Chompupan	ทั้งชมพูพานฤทธิรอน
And the group of monkey warriors	กับหมู่วานรโยธี
Heard some noisy reverberations.	แว่วเสียงสนั่นครั่นครื้น
All the monkeys woke up together.	ก็ตื่นขึ้นพร้อมหน้ากระบี่ศรี
Some crawled, some ran, in great confusion.	บ้างคลานบ้างวิ่งเป็นโกลี
They called to each other noisily.	เรียกหากันมี่อึงไป  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ
23. Hanuman called out harshly.	๒๓. หนุมานจึ่งร้องตวาด
He announced to the warriors, large and small,	ประกาศหมู่โยธาน้อยใหญ่
The entire situation.	เหตุผลต้นปลายประการใด
There was fear, tumult, and confusion.	ตกใจอื้ออึงโกลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ
24. Then	๒๔. บัดนั้น
All the monkey soldiers	ฝ่ายพลกระบี่ถ้วนหน้า
Heard Hanuman calling out.	ได้ยินหนุมานร้องมา
The monkeys settled down immediately.	วานรก็สงบทันที  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  เจรจา
25. Then	๒๕.  บัดนั้น
The grandson of glorious Indra	หลานท้าวหัสนัยน์เรืองศรี
Sent off the demon Paklan	เสร็จส่งปักหลั่นอสุรี
And he returned to his soldiers.	ก็กลับมายังที่พลไกร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
26. When he came to Hanuman the Brave	๒๖. ครั้นถึงคําแหงหนุมาน
And Chompupan the great soldier	กับชมพูพานทหารใหญ่
He explained the situation from the beginning	จึ่งแจ้งเหตุผลแต่ต้นไป
How he had fought with the giant.	ตามได้รณรงค์กุมภัณฑ์
Now the demon Paklan	บัดนี้ปักหลั่นอสุรี
Was finished with Indra's curse.	สิ้นสาปโกสีย์รังสรรค์
He had stroked his body, and it had returned to the form of a god	ลูบกายกลับกลายเป็นเทวัญ
And he returned to heaven.	คืนไปยังสวรรค์ชั้นฟ้า  ฯ
