He showed his magic power and bravery.	สําแดงฤทธิรุทรกําลังหาญ
He swung his diamond trident like a ray of the Cataclysmic Fire.	กวัดแกว่งตรีเพชรดั่งเพลิงกาล
He flew across the river with great agility.	เหาะข้ามชลธารด้วยว่องไว  ฯ

106. He floated off in a fast wind	๑๐๖. ลอยลิ่วปลิวมาตามลมกรด
He reached the sixteenth level of  heaven, on a big mountain,	ตกถึงโสฬสเขาใหญ่
Beyond the City of Lanka.	เกินเมืองลงกาลงไป
He thought it was Nila Mountain.	หมายใจว่านิลคีรี  ฯ

107. He saw the roof of a hermitage	๑๐๗. จึงเห็นหลังคาอาศรม
Of Narot, the great ascetic.	พระนารทบรมฤาษี
He was very happy.	มีความชื่นชมยินดี
The monkey chief descended directly.	ขุนกระบี่ก็ตรงลงมา  ฯ

108. When he came to a sandy mound at the edge of the ocean	๑๐๘. ครั้นถึงเนินทรายชายสมุทร
He stopped at a thicket dense with leaves.	ก็หยุดที่พุ่มไม้ใบหนา
He raised his hands and recited holy prayers.	ยอกรร่ายเวทอันศักดา
He transformed his monkey body.	นิมิตกายาวานร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  ตระ
109. Suddenly he was a tiny monkey.	๑๐๙. บัดเดี๋ยวก็เป็นลิงน้อย
He was small, white, shiny, and pretty	กระจ้อยร่อยขาวผ่องประภัสสร
Like a monkey in the forest.	เหมือนกระบี่ป่าพนาดร
When this was done, he walked in.	เสร็จแล้วบทจรเข้าไป  ฯ

110. He came near the pavilion of the hermitage.	๑๑๐. มาใกล้ศาลาอาศรม
He was a small monkey, and he had good manners.	ลูกลมผู้มีอัชฌาสัย
He crouched down on all fours at a distance.	ค่อยยอบหมอบกรานแต่ไกล
He paid his obeisance to the monk.	กราบไหว้พระมหามุนี  ฯ

111. Then	๑๑๑. เมื่อนั้น
Narot the Ascetic	องค์พระนารทฤาษี
Saw the monkey came and pay obeisance.	เห็นวานรมาอัญชุลี
So he asked him,	จึ่งมีวาจาถามไป
"Hey, monkey,	ว่าเหวยดูก่อนพานริน
Where do you come from?	ถิ่นฐานเอ็งอยู่ตําบลไหน
What's your name?	มีนามกรชื่อใด
Why have you come to see me, monkey?"	มาหากูไยอ้ายวานร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ
112. Then	๑๑๒. บัดนั้น
Hanuman, brave and skillful,	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
Listened and saluted.	ได้ฟังนบนิ้วประนมกร
Then he spoke eloquent words.	แล้วกล่าวสุนทรวาจา
"I don't have any name."	ตัวข้าชื่อเสียงก็ไม่มี
"I'm wandering in the forest.	สัญจรอยู่ที่ในป่า
I've heard rumors	ได้ยินเขาเล่าลือมา
About magnificent Lanka.	ว่าเมืองลงกาโอฬาร
That it's a lot of fun, and everyone is happy.	แสนสนุกเป็นที่จําเริญใจ
I'd would like to go and see the market place and the palace.	จะใคร่ไปชมตลาดราชฐาน
I don't know where the city of the devils is.	ข้าไม่รู้แห่งกรุงมาร
O, Teacher, have mercy on me."	พระอาจารย์จงได้ปรานี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ
113. Then	๑๑๓. เมื่อนั้น
Narot the great ascetic	พระนารทมหาฤาษี
Listened to the monkey speak.	ได้ฟังวานรวาที
So he said,	จึ่งมีพจนารถวาจา
"What's the matter with you	อันตัวเอ็งนี้เป็นไฉน
That you don't know the location of the giant's city	ไม่รู้แห่งเวียงชัยยักษา
And you wander around uncouth and tousled	จึ่งเที่ยวเซอะเซิงกระเจิงมา
And you ask for Lanka, city of the giants?	ถามหาลงกาเมืองมาร
There is Nila Kala Mountain	โน่นนิลกาลาสิงขร
In the middle of the city.	อยู่กลางพระนครไพศาล
It is very high, level with the edge of the universe.	สูงเยี่ยมเทียมขอบจักรวาล
It stands out when you look southwest."	เห็นตระหง่านข้างทิศหรดี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ
114. Then	๑๑๔. บัดนั้น
Skillful Hanuman	หนุมานผู้ชาญชัยศรี
Heard the great sage	ได้ฟังพระมหามุนี
And he was happy.	มีความยินดีปรีดา
So he said, "O, teacher,	จึ่งว่าข้าแต่พระอาจารย์
I beg you to take pity on me.	ขอประทานโปรดเกล้าเกศา
I've lost my way.	ตัวข้านี้หลงเที่ยวมา
Now it's evening.	จนพระสุริยารอนรอน
I'm hungry, tired, and losing strength.	หิวโหยโรยแรงเหนื่อยพักตร์
I'd like to rest first,	จะขอสํานักอยู่ก่อน
Till dawn.	ต่อรุ่งรังสีรวีวร
Then I'll bow down and take my leave."	วานรจะกราบลาไป  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ  เจรจา
115. Then	๑๑๕. เมื่อนั้น
Narot, the great teacher,	พระมหานารทอาจารย์ใหญ่
Thought, "He's only a forest monkey."	คิดว่าลิงป่าพนาลัย
He answered with compassionate words.	จึ่งตอบคําไปด้วยปรานี
"You ask to stay with me.	ซึ่งเอ็งจะอาศัยอยู่
As you wish, monkey."	กับกูก็ตามกระบี่ศรี
Saying this, he raised his hands immediately.	ว่าแล้วยกหัตถ์ขึ้นทันที
He pointed out a rest pavilion to the monkey.	ชี้บอกศาลาให้วานร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ
116. Then	๑๑๖. บัดนั้น
Skillful Hanuman	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
Bent his head an paid obeisance.	ก้มเกล้าดุษฎีชุลีกร
He hurried off to the rest pavilion.	รีบจรไปยังศาลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
117. He was very suspicious.	๑๑๗. ให้คิดสงสัยพันทวี
"Why did a forest monk	เหตุไรฤาษีชีป่า
Come to the Island of Lanka	มาอยู่ในเกาะลงกา
With the group of giants?	กับพวกยักษาด้วยอันใด
Does he have some magic knowledge?	ฤาจะมีความรู้วิชาศาสตร์
In what ways is he brave and skilled?	องค์อาจเชี่ยวชาญเป็นไฉน
Enough! I'll test his magic.	อย่าเลยจะลองฤทธิไกร
To see the teacher's powers."	ให้เห็นศักดาพระอาจารย์
Thinking this, he bowed to the gods,	คิดแล้วไหว้คุณพระเป็นเจ้า
To the Lord of the Three Worlds.	ปิ่นเกล้าสามภพจบสถาน
He shut his eyes and meditated.	หลับเนตรสํารวมวิญญาณ
He said a prayer and thereby transformed his body.	อ่านมนต์นิมิตกายา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ  ตระ
118. With th power of the spells	๑๑๘. เดชะศักดาอาคม
Of the god Siva	พระสยมภูวนาถนาถา
His body became large and filled up the pavilion.	กายนั้นใหญ่เต็มศาลา
So he called to the sage in confusion.	ก็เรียกพระสิทธาวุ่นไป
"You are having me sleep in a place as small as this.	ที่น้อยเท่านี้ให้มานอน
How can I stretch out my arms and legs?	จะเหยียดเท้าเหยียดกรกระไรได้
I  am not comfortable.	ข้าไม่ผาสุขสําราญใจ
Why is it like this, O, sage?"	เป็นไฉนฉะนี้พระมุนี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ
119. Then	๑๑๙. เมื่อนั้น
Narot the Sage	องค์พระนารทฤาษี
Heard the monkey's word	ได้ยินวานรพาที
And he thought it was strange.	มีจิตถวิลจินดา
"This fellow is very small.	อ้ายตัวนี่มันก็น้อยน้อย
He's tiny, a forest monkey.	กระจ้อยร่อยเป็นชาติลิงป่า
Why does he say that the pavilion	เหตุไฉนจึ่งว่าศาลา
Is smaller than his body?	เล็กกว่ากายาด้วยอันใด
I'll go look	อย่าเลยจะไปแลดู
And find out what this smart fellow is up to."	อ้ายสู่รู้มันทําเป็นไฉน
Having thought this he walked out	คิดแล้วก็เดินออกไป
from his forest hermitage.	จากในอรัญกุฎี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
120. He saw a large, powerful body	๑๒๐. เห็นกายโตใหญ่ไพศาล
And he knew the monkey was playing a trick.	ก็แจ้งการว่ากลกระบี่ศรี
So he spoke a powerful spell	จึ่งอ่านพระเวทอันฤทธี
And he transformed the pavilion.	นิมิตซึ่งที่ศาลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  ตระ
121. Sudenly it was as big as several rooms.	๑๒๑. บัดเดี๋ยวก็ใหญ่เป็นหลายห้อง
Then he shouted out, "Hey, forest monkey!	แล้วร้องว่าเหวยอ้ายลิงป่า
You're a master of the devil's tricks.	มึงนี้เจ้ากลมารยา
You've come to annoy me.	แกล้งมารบกูให้รําคาญ
Now surely this pavilion	นี่แน่ศาลาครานี้
Is big enough.	กว้างขวางยาวรีรโหฐาน
Burrow into it and sleep peacefully	มุดหัวนอนเถิดให้สําราญ
Listen, beast, don't bother me."	อ้ายชาติเดียรฉานอย่ากวนใจ  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  เจรจา
122. Then	๑๒๒. บัดนั้น
The Son of the Wind, the courteous,	วายุบุตรผู้มีอัชฌาสัย
Saw the pavilion get large	เห็นศาลาใหญ่ออกไป
Through the magical power of the sage.	ด้วยฤทธิไกรพระมุนี
He smiled and thought,	ยิ้มแล้วรําพึงคะนึงคิด
"How can I exhaust the magic powers of the sage?"	จะทําให้สิ้นฤทธิ์พระฤาษี
So he paid his obeisance to haeven.	จึ่งยอกรนบนิ้วดุษฎี
The monkey recited a magic spell.	ขุนกระบี่ก็ร่ายวิทยา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  ตระ
123. His body was as big as Mount Promet	๑๒๓. กายนั้นใหญ่เท่าพรมเมศ
Through his bold magic powers.	ด้วยศักดาเดชแกล้วกล้า
He shouted out to the sage,	แล้วร้องประกาศเข้ามา
"Is this what you call a pavilion, sage?	นี่ฤาศาลาพระนักพรต
You said it was big and ample,	บอกว่าใหญ่โตกว้างขวาง
But I can't lay down one arm completely,	แต่แขนข้างหนึ่งวางไม่ได้หมด
And I have to bend my knees.	ทั้งเข่าขาก็ต้องคู้คด
You have no pity."	พระดาบสไม่เห็นเวทนา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  เจรจา
124. Then	๑๒๔. เมื่อนั้น
The teacher with strong powers of concentration	องค์พระอาจารย์ฌานกล้า
Responded by transforming the pavilion.	แต่เวียนนิมิตศาลา
It got constantly wider and longer.	กว้างยาวกว่าเก่าขึ้นทุกที
However big it became with magical power,	โตออกเท่าใดด้วยฤทธิ์นั้น
His body just got bigger than the place.	กายมันยิ่งใหญ่ออกกว่าที่
So the sage said, "Hey, this monkey	จึ่งว่าดูดู๋อ้ายลิงนี้
Is full of bad tricks.	กาลีเจ้าเลห์เป็นพ้นไป
He's a real show off.	อันตัวของมันนี้สู่รู้
He dares to try out an old man!	มาลองกูผู้เฒ่าก็เป็นได้
Well, he asked for it.	จําจะทารกรรมให้หนําใจ
He'll see what magical power is."	อ้ายจัญไรจะได้เห็นฤทธิ์
Having thought this, the teacher	คิดแล้วองค์พระอาจารย์
Entered into a state of meditation.	ก็เข้าสู่ฌานสํารวมจิต
He purified himself	อาโปกสิณเป็นนิมิต
With the force of his religious power.	ด้วยตบะกิจพระสิทธา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๘  คํา  ฯ  ตระ
125. He  created darkness in the sky.	๑๒๕. บันดาลมืดคลุ้มโพยมหน
There was thunder in all directions.	อึงอลไปทั่วทิศา
Rain fell.	ฝนนั้นก็ตกลงมา
It touched the monkey's body.	ถูกต้องกายาวานร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  รัว
126. Then	๑๒๖. บัดนั้น
Brave, skillful Hanuman	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
Was cold from the rain touching his body. He hung his head and hid.	ต้องฝนทนหนาวซบซอน
His body and arms were numb all over.	กายกรเป็นเหน็บทั้งอินทรีย์
His body was transformed again.	อันรูปนิมิตก็กลับกลาย
It returned completely to monkey form.	คืนคงเป็นกายกระบี่ศรี
He was at his wit's end, and saw the magic power of the sage.	สุดคิดเห็นฤทธิ์พระมุนี
He couldn't take it any more.	สุดที่จะทนเวทนา
He shouted out, "Hey you, sage,	ร้องว่าดูก่อนพระนักธรรม์
It's too cold, I can't take it.	หนาวพ้นอดกลั้นหนักหนา
Every hair on my body is cold.	เยือกเย็นทุกเส้นโลมา
Have pity. Don't make me suffer."	เมตตาอย่าให้ทรมาน  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ
127. Then	๑๒๗. เมื่อนั้น
Narot, wise and brave,	พระนารทผู้ปรีชาหาญ
Saw the monkey defeated by the power of his concentration.	เห็นวานรพ่ายแพ้ฤทธิ์ฌาน
He trembled from the cold, and shouted out.	หนาวสะท้านร้องอึงคะนึงไป
So, he said, "Hey, forest monkey,	จึ่งว่าดูก่อนอ้ายลิงป่า
You're evil and crude.	ชั่วช้าสามานย์หยาบใหญ่
You annoyed me by testing my magic.	มึงแกล้งมาลองฤทธิไกร
Why are you begging,	เป็นไฉนจึ่งร้องวุ่นวาย
You evil charecter?	เหวยอ้ายทรลักษณ์อัปรีย์
Come near the fire and your numbness will disappear.	มาผิงอัคคีเสียให้หาย
Animal, you're very evil.	พาชาติเดียรฉานแสนร้าย
Are you ashamed yet, or not, of your foolishness?"	ยังอายฤาไม่อ้ายพาลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
128.  Then	๑๒๘.  บัดนั้น
The Son of the Wind, the brave one,	วายุบุตรวุฒิไกรใจกล้า
Listened to the great sage	ได้ฟังพระมหาสิทธา
And happily got down from the pavilion.	ก็ลงจากศาลาด้วยยินดี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
129. When he arrived he sat and warmed himself by the fire.	๑๒๙. ครั้นถึงจึ่งนั่งผิงไฟ
The monkey roasted his whole body	อังไปทั่วกายกระบี่ศรี
Which was trembling all over with cold.	ที่สะท้านเยือกเย็นทั้งอินทรีย์
He was touched by the steam from the fire, and he was happy.	ต้องอายอัคคีก็สําราญ
So he thought, "This sage	จึ่งคิดว่าองค์พระนักสิทธ์
Has bold and powerful magic knowledge.	ตบะกิจวิทยากล้าหาญ
He is agile in his powers of concentration."	ว่องไวในที่จําเริญฌาน
Having thought this, he came to the pavilion.	คิดแล้วมาสถานศาลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
130. He leaned back and stretched out his arms and legs.	๑๓๐. เอนกายเหยียดเท้าเหยียดกร
He slept happily.	นอนเป็นบรมสุขา
The Wind touched his body.	พระพายพัดต้องกายา
He was tired and slept soundly.	เหนื่อยมาก็หลับสนิทไป  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  ตระ
131. Then	๑๓๑. เมื่อนั้น
Narot, the great teacher,	พระมหานารทอาจารย์ใหย๋
Saw the intelligent monkey.	เห็นวานรผู้ปรีชาไว
He was sleeping and unconcious.	หลับไหลไม่เป็นสมประดี
So he thought, "This fellow has challenged me.	จึ่งคิดว่าอ้ายนี้มันสู่รู้
He has tested my ascetic powers.	มาลองฤทธิ์กูผู้ฤาษี
Today I'll see his ability,	จะดูศักดามันวันนี้
To serve the monkey right.	ให้สาที่นํ้าใจวานร
If he's good he'll be able to free himself.	แม้นว่ามันดีก็แก้ได้
If not, then he'll be even more ashamed than before."	หาไม่จะอายกว่าก่อน
Having thought this, he pulled out his staff.	คิดแล้วฉวยชักเอาธารกร
He walked off from the pavilion.	บทจรออกจากศาลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
123. He came to a lotus pond.	๑๓๒. มาถึงสระโบกขรณี
He stood on a slab of rock	ยืนอยู่เหนือที่แผ่นผา
And recited a magic spell.	ก็ร่ายพระเวทวิทยา
By his prayers he enchanted his cane.	ภาวนาเสกไม้เท้าไป  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  ตระ
133. When this was done he threw it down in the pond.	๑๓๓. ครั้นแล้วจึ่งทิ้งลงในสระ
It was transformed into a big leech.	กลายเป็นขันลุกะตัวใหญ่
He ordered, "If the cursed monkey	สั่งว่าแม้นลิงจัญไร
Comes to drink in this pond	มากินนํ้าในสระนี้
Leech, attach yourself to his chin.	ปลิงจงเกาะเอาลูกคาง
Don't release the monkey."	อย่าได้ละวางกระบี่ศรี
Having said this, he walked slowly	ว่าแล้วย่างเยื้องจรลี
And returned to the pavilion.	กลับมายังที่ศาลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
134. Then	๑๓๔. บัดนั้น
The Son of the Wind, the brave hearted,	วายุบุตรวุฒิไกรใจกล้า
When the light of dawn lit up the clouds	ครั้นแสงทองรองเรืองเมฆา
Birds resounded through the forest.	สกุณาเพียกพร้องสนั่นไพร
A bee flew around.	แมลงผึ้งภู่โบยบิน
A cuckoo sang a pretty song.	โกกิลรํ่าร้องเสียงใส
He was awakend and left the pavilion.	ก็ตื่นตาออกจากศาลาลัย
He walked to the pond.	เดินไปยังสระวารี  ฯ
	ฯ  ๔  คํา  ฯ  เสมอ
135. When he arrived he rinsed his mouth and washed his face.	๑๓๕. ครั้นถึงบ้วนปากล้างหน้า
He washed his monkey body	ชําระกายากระบี่ศรี
He rubbed down his whole body	ลูบไล้ไปทั่วอินทรีย์
At the pond.	อยู่ในที่สระชลธาร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ
136. Then	๑๓๖. บัดนั้น
A for the brave leech that was the cane	ฝ่ายปลิงไม้เท้าตัวหาญ
Of the great teacher,	ขององค์มหาอาจารย์
It swam up and attached itself to the monkey's chin.	ว่ายทะยานเกาะคางวานร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ  รัว
137. Then	๑๓๗. บัดนั้น
Brave Hanuman	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
Jumped up in fear from this magical power.	ตกใจโจนด้วยฤทธิรอน
He jerked and shook it with his two hands.	สองกรกระชากสะบัดไป
In his hatred he closed his eyes and picked and pulled.	ความเกลียดหลับตาปลิดฉุด
He couldn't get the leech off.	ปลิงนั้นจะหลุดก็หาไม่
No matter how much he pulled,	ยิงคร่ายิ่งทึ้งสักเท่าไร
It got longer each time.	ยิ่งยาวออกไปทุกที
It was beyond his knowledge, his magic, and his power.	สุดรู้สุดฤทธิ์สุดกําลัง
It was beyond the intelligence of the monkey.  He ran and called for the ascetic	สุดทั้งปรีชากระบี่ศรี
It was beyond the intelligence of the monkey.	วิ่งพลางร้องเรียกพระมุนี
Till he came to the leafy pavilion.	จนถึงที่บรรณศาลา  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ  เชิด
138. So he bowed down to his feet.	๑๓๘. จึ่งกราบลงกับบทมาลย์
"Please have mercy on me.	พระอาจารย์ได้โปรดเกศา
Please help me escape this suffering.	จงช่วยให้พ้นเวทนา
Pick the leech off me now."	ปลิดปลิงให้ข้าบัดนี้  ฯ
	ฯ  ๒  คํา  ฯ
139. Then	๑๓๙. เมื่อนั้น
The great ascetic Narot	พระมหานารทฤาษี
Smiled and then spoke.	ยิ้มแล้วจึ่งกล่าววาที
He pointed to Hanuman's face and said, "Hey, common one,	ชี้หน้าว่าเหวยอ้ายสาธารณ์
Why don't you use your powers?	เป็นไฉนไม่แผลงฤทธิรอน
Why, beast, do you come begging to me?	มาวอนกูไยอ้ายเดียรฉาน
A tiny leech is sticking to you, as big as the rope of a pulley.	ปลิงหนิดติดอยู่เท่าสายพาน
You cry out without shame.	ร้องอึงอลหม่านไม่อายใจ
Last night you persistently irritated me.	คืนนี้มึงเฝ้าแต่กวนกู
I couldn't even recite my prayers for a minute."	จะสวดมนต์สักครู่ก็ไม่ได้
Having said this, he stretched out his hand.	ว่าแล้วจึ่งยื่นมือไป
He pulled off his staff from the monkey.	หยิบเอาไม้เท้าที่วานร  ฯ
	ฯ  ๖  คํา  ฯ
140. Then	๑๔๐. บัดนั้น
Hanuman the Brave	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
Saw the evil leech change into a cane	เห็นปลิงร้ายกลายเป็นธารกร
Through the magic power of the sage.	ด้วยฤทธิรอนพระสิทธา
It caused his hair to stand on end.	บันดาลขนพองสยองเกล้า
He bowed down to has feet, left and right.	กราบลงแทบเท้าซ้ายขวา
He praised his magic knowledge.	สรรเสริญกาลกิจวิทยา
He entreated and begged forgiveness of the ascetic.	วอนขอสมาพระมุนี
"You who are of such austerity.	พระองค์ผู้ทรงตบะฌาน
I ask you to forgive the monkey.	ขอประทานโทษากระบี่ศรี
May you live in happiness and peace.	ค่อยอยู่จําเริญสวัสดี
I will take my leave."	ตัวของข้านี้จะลาไป
Saying this, he showed his power.	ว่าแล้วสําแดงอํานาจ
