They saw the merit, magic, and power	เห็นบุญเห็นฤทธิ์เห็นอำนาจ
Of Naray the Glorious.	พระนารายณ์ธิราชเรืองศรี
They praised the mighty Onkot.	แล้วชมองคตผู้มีฤทธี
"You are excellent, the best of men."	ท่านนี้ประเสริฐเลิศชาย
Each one talked among thenselves	ต่างตนต่างสนทนากัน
Until the sun nearly rose.	จนสุริยันจวนแจ้งแสงฉาย
He mobilized his group of soldiers	ก็ยกพวกพลนิกาย
And they went on their way.	บ่ายหน้าไปตามมรคา ฯ

28. They led the troops over meadows and mountains.	๒๘. นำพลผ่านทุ่งวุ้งเขา
They followed the rows in the forest.	ตามลำเนาทิวแถวแนวป่า
They counted five leagues.	หนทางห้าโยชน์คณนา
It was almost evening	พอจวนเวลาสายัณห์
They came to the city in the middle of the forest.	ก็ถึงเมืองหนึ่งอยู่กลางไพร
They were as happy as if they were in the thirty-third heaven.	แสนสนุกดั่งตรัยตรึงส์สวรรค์
There was a wall with a row of watch towers	ปราการหอรบเรียงรัน
And a moat and a curious arch.	คูคั่นเขื่อนซุ้มชอบกล
There was also a great castle.	มีทั้งมหาปราสาท
Rays of light came down from heaven.	โอภาสแลลอยโพยมหน
They didn't see any troops	ไม่เห็นโยธีรี้พล
Coming in and out.	เข้าออกสับสนนอกใน
The three officers stared.	สามนายแลเล็งเพ่งพิศ
Each one was suspicious.	ต่างตนต่างคิดสงสัย
They halted the soldiers	ให้หยุดพหลพลไกร
And they consulted with each other.	ลงไว้แล้วปรึกษากัน ฯ

29. Then	๒๙. บัดนั้น
The son of the Wind, the Powerful One,	ลูกพระพายฤทธิแรงแข็งขัน
Spoke with the two officers.	จึ่งว่าแก่สองนายนั้น
"This city if quite strange.	เมืองนี้อัศจรรย์ใจนัก
I shall enter and look around	ตัวเราจะเข้าไปดู
To find out the circumstances, whether serious or not.	ให้รู้เหตุการณ์เบาหนัก
You good generals	ฝ่ายท่านผู้จำเริญพักตร์
Keep the troops safe."	รักษารี้พลให้จงดี
Having ordered this, he walked out	สั่งแล้วก็เดินออกมา
From the group of glorious monkey soldiers.	จากหมู่โยธากระบี่ศรี
He turned his head toward the royal city	บ่ายหน้าต่อราชธานี
And walked into the palace.	จรลีเข้ายังวังใน ฯ

30. (Chom talaat) He looked at the road paved with stone.	๓๐.(ชมตลาด) พิศดูมรรคาศีลาลาด
Trees were abundantly close together.	รุกขชาติเรียบเรียงเคียงไสว
Flowers and fruits were scattered abundantly	ดอกผลหล่นกลาดดาษไป
No one was to be seen, coming or going.	ไม่เห็นผู้คนไปมา
As he walked around, he looked and felt doubts.	เดินพลางทางพิศคิดฉงน
"Is this a trick of the giants?	ฤาจะเป็นเล่ห์กลยักษา
Or is it the pleasure palace	ฤาที่ประพาสภิรมยา
Of the god of the Earth?	องค์เจ้าโลกาธาตรี
It is very nice,	จึ่งแสนสนุกสำราญ
As if it were Indra's city	ดั่งสถานนัคเรศโกสีย์
Admiring it, he hurried on.	ชมพลางก็รีบจรลี
He ascended the ornate palace.	ี ขึ้นที่ปราสาทอลงกรณ์ ฯ

31. He saw a lady with beautiful features.	๓๑. เห็นนางทรงลักษณ์วิไลวรรณ
Her skin was like that of a heavenly nymph.	ผิวพรรณเพียงเทพอัปสร
Her face was clear like the moon	พักตร์ผ่องดังดวงศศิธร
Her whole body was slender and lovely	แน่งน้อยอรชรทั้งอินทรีย์
Her eyebrows were curved as if painted.	ขนงก่งค้อมดั่งวาด
Her lips glistened, glorious, bright, and beautiful.	โอษฐ์เอี่ยมดั่งชาดเฉลิมศรี
Her eyes were like the eyes of a deer.	นัยเนตรเพียงเนตรมฤคี
Her cheeks were like dazzling jewels.	ปรางเปรียบมณีพรายพรรณ
Her neck was like the neck of a swan.	ลำศอดั่งคอราชหงส์
Her waist was like that of a heavenly bird.	เอวองค์ดั่งกินรีสวรรค์
Her two arms were like the trunk of Indra's elephant.	สองกรดั่งงวงเอราวัณ
Her breasts were like golden lotuses.	ดวงถันดั่งดวงปทุมทอง
She was beautiful all over.	งามสรรพพร้อมสิ้นสารพางค์
There was no one in all the world whose beauty could compare.	งามนางในโลกไม่มีสอง
She was beautiful and soft, with velvety skin.	งามพริ้มนิ่มเนื้อนวลละออง
The more you looked, the more you were attracted to her.	ยิ่งพิศยิ่งต้องติดตา ฯ

32. "Enough of this. I'll go in and ask,	๓๒. อย่าเลยจะเข้าไปไถ่ถาม
In order to end this suspicion."	ให้สิ้นข้อความที่กังขา
So thinking, the monkey chief, who had great knowledge,	คิดแล้วขุนกระบี่ผู้ปรีชา
Approached the lady.	เดินเข้าไปหานางเทวี ฯ

33. (chaatrii) So he spoke eloquent words.	๓๓. (ชาตรี) จึ่งกล่าววาจาอันสุนทร
"Look, glorious woman,	ดูก่อนเยาวมาลย์เฉลิมศรี
You are slender and beautiful all over.	แน่งน้อยเสาวภาคย์ทั้งอินทรีย์
What is your name?	เจ้านี้มีนามกรใด
Why are you alone?	มาอยู่ผู้เดียวเอกา
Where is the lord of the city?	ท่านเจ้าพารานั้นไปไหน
Why are there no soldiers or servants?	สิ้นทั้งโยธาข้าไทย
What is the reason, beautiful lady?"	เหตุผลสิ่งใดเยาวมาลย์ ฯ

34. Then	๓๔. เมื่อนั้น
Lady Busmali, worthy of pity,	นางบุษมาลียอดสงสาร
Saw the monkey come asking about her situation.	เห็นวานรมาถามเหตุการณ์
The girl was alarmed.	นงคราญตระหนกตกใจ
So, she thought about it.	จึ่งคิดถวิลจินดา
"Where does this monkey chief come from?	ขุนกระบี่นี้มาแต่ไหน
I was cursed by Indra	ตัวกูต้องสาปหัสนัยน์
Thirty thousand years ago	นานได้ถึงสามหมื่นปี
Not to see man or woman.	ไม่เห็นผู้คนหญิงชาย
No one has come here to intrude.	ใครจะมากลำ้กลายถึงนี่
If I am silent now	ครั้นจะนิ่งเสียบัดนี้
I probably won't know what's going on."	น่าที่ไม่แจ้งกิจจา
Having thought this, she answered him back.	คิดแล้วจึ่งเอื้อนตอบไป
"Why is it, brave monkey,	เป็นไฉนกระบี่ใจกล้า
And from whence have you come	อยู่ถิ่นฐานใดจึ่งขึ้นมา
To the elaborate palace?	ถึงมหาปราสาทอลงกรณ์
You ask my name rudely, without respect for	ลวงถามนามเราไม่เกรงบาท
The god of Mount Meru.	พระจอมเมรุมาศสิงขร
Hurry from the city.	เร่งไปเสียจากพระนคร
It is not fitting for a monkey to know."	ไม่ควรวานรจะแจ้งการ ฯ

35. (raay) Then	๓๕. (ร่าย) เมื่อนั้น
The Son of the Wind, who had great knowledge,	วายุบุตรผู้ปรีชาหาญ
Listened to the words of the woman.	ได้ฟังสุรเสียงเยาวมาลย์
It was like heavenly medicine refreshing his heart.	ปานอมฤตฟ้ายาใจ
Therefore, he spoke eloquently.	จึ่งมีสุนทรวาจา
"Jewel of the eye, ultimate in love.	แก้วตาผู้ยอดพิสมัย
I don't understand what is going on, so I'm asking you.	ไม่แจ้งความจึ่งถามอรไท
Why should you be so cruel?	ควรฤาช่างไม่ปรานี
What are you angry about	ขุ่นหมองข้องขัดสิ่งใดเจ้า
That you chase me away, O young one!	ยุพเยาว์จึ่งมาขับพี่
I am curious about your words.	สงสัยในคำซึ่งพาที
Why do you utter Indra's name?"	ออกนามโกสีย์ด้วยอันใด
While saying this, he approached her.	ว่าพลางก็เดินเข้ามา
"You should not deceive me.	อนิจจาหาควรจะพรางไม่
I beg you	ขอเชิญเยาวยอดดวงใจ
To explain the situation to me.	บอกไปให้แจ้งเหตุการณ์
If there is a problem, I will help you.	แม้นมีทุกข์ร้อนจะได้ช่วย
Even if it means death.	กว่าจะม้วยชีวังสังขาร

He approached her.	แล้วเดินกระชั้นเข้ามา
It made her feel very shy.	ให้คิดขวยเขินสะเทิ้นนัก
She turned her face away.	นงลักษณ์ผินผันหันหน้า
She got up and fled from her ornate dais.	ลุกหนีจากแท่นอลงการ์
Then she answered him.	แล้วมีวาจาตอบไป
"Why are you chasing me?	ทำไมไล่รุกบุกบัน
You have no respect for my feelings.	จะเกรงใจกันก็หาไม่
You speak elegantly to soften me up.	ช่างกล่าวสุนทรให้อ่อนใจ
You're just sweet talking me about helping me.	ใส่ไคล้จะช่วยทุกข์เรา
Phooey on you, soldier of Naray.	ชิชะทหารพระนาราย์
Your tricks are worse than anyone's	แยบคายดั่งใครไม่รู้เท่า
I'm not easily impressed.	ตัวข้ามิใช่ใจเบา
I don't believe what you say.	จะเชื่อคำเจ้าพาที
You say you are a soldier of the Arrow-bearer.	ซึ่งว่าเป็นทหารพระทรงศร

I wasn't just sweet-talking you.	ใช่จะใส่ไคล้เจรจา
My name is Hanuman.	ตัวพี่นี้ชื่อหนุมาน
I am a soldier of Naray the Great.	เป็นทหารพระนารายณ์นาถา
Totsakan has stolen lady Sita	ทศพักตรมันลักนางสีดา
And gone to the City of Lanka.	ไปยังลงกาธานี

Beautiful Busmali	นางบุษมาลีโฉมฉาย
Brushed away his hand shyly.	สลัดปัดกรดัวยความอาย

"The more I scold you, the more you try to take advantage,	ดูดู๋ยิ่งว่ายิ่งลวนลาม
Rudely, showing no respect.	หยาบหยามไม่คิดเกรงหน้า
So this is the great Hanuman,	นี่ฤาหนุมานผู้ศักดา
The soldier of the four-handed Discus-bearer!	ทหารพระจักราสี่กร
Why don't you yawn and expel stars,	เหตุใดไม่หาวเป็นดาวดวง
Or a shining ray of the sun,	เดือนตะวันโชติช่วงประภัสสร
To show the power of the monkey?	ให้เห็นสำคัญของวานร
You deceive and lie.	ลวงหลอนมุสาพาที
As four the question about my name,	แต่ซึ่งมาถามนามเรา
I'll tell you that, monkey	ข้อนั้นจะเล่ากระบี่ศรี
My name is Busmali.	ตัวข้อชื่อบุษมาลี
This is Mayan City.	เมืองนี้ชื่อเมืองมายัน
Formerly, King Tawan went to have audience with	เดิมท้าวตาวันไปเฝ้า
The god of the thirty-three heavens.	องค์เจ้าตรัยตรึงสาสวรรค์
He saw Lady Rampa the Beautiful.	เห็นนางรำพาวิลาวัณย์
He was attracted to the Lady.	ผูกพันพิศวาสอรไท
Whenever he went to see the god he would plead.	ขึ้นเฝ้าครั้งไรก็วอนว่า
I acted as a go-between to bring the lady to him.	ตัวข้าสื่อชักนางให้
The god came and killed them	พระองค์ตามมล้างชีวาลัย
And all the citizenry.	บันดาลให้ไพร่พลสาธารณ์
And he also cast a curse on me to come down	จึ่งซํ้าสาปข้าลงมาอยู่
To live alone in this city,	ผู้เดียวที่ในราชฐาน
To suffer for a long time,	ทนทุกข์ทรมาช้านาน
For about thirty thousand years,	ประมาณได้สามหมื่นปี
Until I should meet a skilled soldier	ต่อพบทหารชาญณรงค์
Of the Glorious Naray.	ขององค์พระนารายณ์เรืองศรี
I would be freed from guilt	จึ่งจะพ้นโทษาราคี
By divine order."	ตามมีเทวราชบัญชา ฯ

39. Then	๓๙. เมื่อนั้น
Brave Hanuman	คำแหงหนุมานหาญกล้า
Smiled and answered,	ยิ้มแล้วจึ่งตอบพจนา
"It's too bad you couldn't have told me this in the first place.	อนิจจามิใคร่จะบอกกัน
If you could have, you would have been freed from your suffering	หาไม่ป่านนี้จะพ้นทุกข์
And you would have been joyful.	เสวยสุขภิรมย์เกษมสันต์
I will help you, beautiful lady.	จะช่วยวนิดาวิลาวัณย์
But how will you reward me?"	แต่จะถึงใจกันด้วยอันใด
So saying, he teased her	ว่างพลางทางทำสัพยอก
And kissed her.	เย้าหยอกจุมพิตพิสมัย
"You wait and see, lovely woman."	เจ้าคอยดูเถิดอรไท
Saying this, he jumped up with his magical power.	ว่าแล้วโผนไปด้วยฤทธา ฯ

40. Hovering by an opening in the window	ููู๔๐. ลอยอยู่ตรงช่องบัญชร
He changed his body so that it had eight hands and four faces.	กลับเป็นแปดกรสี่หน้า
The sun, stars, and moon	อันเดือนดาวดวงสุริยา
Came from his shining lips.	ออกมาจากโอษฐ์ชัชวาล ฯ
	ฯ ๒ คำ ฯ คุกพาทย์

41. Then	๔๑. เมื่อนั้น
Lady Busmali, most pitiful,	นางบุษมาลียอดสงสาร
Saw the monkey displaying all his powers,	เห็นกระบี่แผลงฤทธิ์ชัยชาญ
And the woman was in awe.	เยาวมาลย์ตระหนกตกใจ
Her two hands hid her two eyes.	สองกรปิดสองนัยนา
She lowered her head, not daring to look.	ก้มหน้ามิอาจดูได้
She shuddered and let out a cry.	ร้องกรีดหวีดหวาดวุ่นไป
She was so stunned she fainted.	ไม่เป็นสติสมประดี ฯ

42. Then	๔๒. เมื่อนั้น
Skillful Hanuman,	หนุมานผู้ชาญชัยศรี
When he saw Lady Busmali	คร้้ันเห็นนางบุษมาลี
Fearful, and shouting in agitation,	ตกใจร้องมี่วุ่นวาย
He nearly died he was so enamored.	ยิ่งแสนพิศวาสจะขาดจิต
He changed his body back to its former shape.	ก็กลับรูปนิมิตให้สูญหาย
He at down next to her.	ลงมานั่งแนบแอบกาย
He smiled brightly and consoled the woman.	ยิ้มพรายรับขวัญกัลยา ฯ

43. Then he spoke eloquently,	๔๓. แล้วมีวาจาอันสุนทร
"O beautiful lady, most lovable,	สายสมรเยาวยอดเสน่หา
I love you as much as I love my live.	รักเจ้าเท่าดวงชีวา
Jewel of my eyes, don't be frightened."	แก้วตาของพี่อย่าตกใจ
Saying this, he picked her up in his arms.	ว่าพลางอุ้มองค์นงลักษณ์
He was happy looking at her	ภิรมย์ชมพักตร์พิศมัย
He fondled her and chunked her under the chin.	เชยแก้มแนมเนื้ออรไท
He touched her lotus breasts.	คว้าไขว่ต้องเต้าสุมามาลย์
The rains of heaven fell and the sky thundered.	ฝนสวรรค์ครั่นครื้นโพยมหน
Flowers opened to receive the sun.	โกมลบานรับสุริยฉาน
The smell of perfume floated on the waters.	กลิ่นตลบอบฟุ้งชลธาร
The two were very happy.	สองสําราญสุขเกษมเปรมปรีดิ์ ฯ

Lovely Busmali,	นางบุษมาลีโฉมศรี
After she had been united in sex	ครั้นได้ร่วมรสฤาดี
With the monkey chief of high rank	กับขุนกระบี่ผู้ศักดา
Was terribly happy.	แสนสนิทพิศมัยใหลหลง
She was infatuated in her love.	งวยงงด้วยความเสน่หา
She forgot the pain she had suffered	ลืมทุกข์ที่ทนเวทนา
When she was alone in Mayan City.	ซึ่งอยู่เอกาในมายัน
She forgot her heavenly abode.	ลืมทิพสถานพิมานแมน
She forgot the many possessions of the heavenly city.	ลืมแสนสมบัติเมืองสวรรค์
She forgot her shyness and her annoyance.	ลืมอายลืมความรังเกียจกัน
She was happy and embraced the monkey.	เกษมสันต์อิงแอบวานร ฯ

45. Then	๔๕. เมื่อนั้น
Powerful Hanuman, skilled in love,	คําแหงหนุมานชาญสมร
Lay close beside her.	เชยชิดพิศวาสบังอร
Then he spoke eloquent words to her.	แล้วกล่าวสุนทรวาที
"O beautiful one, youthful one,	เจ้าผู้โฉมเฉลาเยาวเรศ
Apple of my eye, best of woman,	ดวงเนตรผู้มิ่งมารศรี
Now the Discus-bearing King	บัดนี้สมเด็จพระจักรี
Is using me to go and pay audience to Lady Sita.	ใช้พี่ไปเฝ้านางสีดา
If I linger a long time in sexual enjoyment	ครั้นจะอยู่สู่สมภิรมย์รัก
I fear punishment.	ช้านักก็เกรงโทษา
I must ask to take my leave.	ตัวพี่นี้จักขอลา
O jewel of my eyes, do not mourn.	แก้วตาอย่าได้อาวรณ์
As for my going to the powerful City of Lanka.	ซึ่งจะไปลงกากรุงไกร
Tell me if it is near or far, my love.	ยังใกล้ฤาไกลดวงสมร
Please tell me the way to go.	ช่วยบอกหนทางให้พี่จร

It was as if her life were being destroyed.	ดั่งหนึ่งชีวีจะบรรลัย
She bent her head and bowed at his feet.	น้อมเศียรกราบกับบทเรศ
Tears flowed swiftly from her eyes.	ชลเนตรแถวถั่งหลั่งไหล
She felt burdened, confused, and afraid	ให้อัดอั้นตันอกตกใจ
Because she was going to be separated from the monkey chief.	ด้วยจะไกลพระยาพานร
She was unable to stop him.	สุดที่จะขัดทัดทาน
She felt terrible, suffering as if she had been hit by arrows.	แสนทุกข์ทรมานดั่งต้องศร
She tried to control herself.	ขืนใจดับความอาวรณ์
She raised her hand and pointed out the path	ยอกรชี้บอกมรรคา
To Lanka, the powerful city.	อันทางลงกากรุงไกร
"Go in the southwest direction.	ไปโดยหรดีทิศา
From here it is nine leagues.	แต่นี้เก้าโยชน์คณนา
There you will encounter a great river	จึ่งจะพบมหานที
Swift, very big, deep, and wide.	เชี่ยวฉานใหญหลวงลึกกว้าง
There is a beautiful nymph.	มีนางอับสรโฉมศรี
She guards the river.	สําหรับรักษาวารี
Ask the goddess.	จงถามเทวีต่อไป
I am finished with my punishment.	น้องนี้ก็สิ้นมลทินโทษ
Please see me off	ได้โปรดจงช่วยส่งให้
To return to heaven	คืนยังฟากฟ้าสุราลัย
As Indra commanded."	ตามคําหัสนัยน์บัญชา ฯ

47. Then	๔๗. เมื่อนั้น
The Son of the Wind, of high rank,	ลูกพระพายผู้มียศถา
Picked the woman up.	จึ่งเข้าอุ้มองค์กัลยา
His glance at her face lingered.	พิศดูพักตราก็อาลัย
He looked at her hair and eyes and breasts.	พิศเกศเนตรนมชมนาง
He looked at her cheeks and sighed heavily.	พิศปรางทางถอนใจใหญ่
He ahd no choice, and so he hurled her upward	จําเป็นก็โยนขึ้นไป
Into the sky, with his magical powers.	ยังในอากาศด้วยฤทธี ฯ
	ฯ ๔ คํา ฯ

48. When he finished sending the lady off to Indra's city	๔๘. ครั้นเสร็จส่งนางไปเมืองอินทร์
The lord of the monkeys was very happy.	ขุนกระบินทร์ชื่นชมเกษมศรี
He left the splendid palace.	ลงจากปราสาทรูจี
He hurried out.	ก็รีบจรลีออกมา ฯ
	ฯ ๒ คํา ฯ เสมอ
